Daniel Ricciardo has jokingly praised his Red Bull Racing teammate, Max Verstappen, to the hilt, stating the young Dutchman is twice as good as legendary Ayrton Senna.

The reason for the smile behind the comment is that by openly admitting that Verstappen is really good, by beating him in equal machinery next year, means that he is even better!

“The way that I see it, it is quite cool — because the more highly regarded he is, then if I can go out next year and beat him, it doesn't make me look bad,” Ricciardo told motorsport.com. “If everyone was saying he was crap and he doesn't deserve the seat, and I am just managing to beat him, then it doesn't make me look very good.”

Daniel finished third in the 2016 Formula One Championship season, the ‘best of the rest' behind the two Mercedes drivers, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, eight points ahead of Verstappen, who finished fourth.
