OFFICIAL: The South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced the signing of dual International Sam Burgess, with the Englishman re-joining the club on a three-year deal.

Australians James Duckworth and Ellen Perez have been awarded wildcards into this year's US Open, beginning on Monday, August 29.

Duckworth, who has endured a difficult 2016 season, dropping to No.199 in the world after suffering several injuries, will make his third appearance at Flushing Meadows.

“I'm really excited about being able to play main draw at the US Open and would like to thank Tennis Australia for the wildcard,” the 24-year-old said.

“I had a tough start to the year, missing nearly four months with an elbow injury, but I'm fit and injury-free now and really looking forward to this great opportunity in New York.”

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Ellen Perez from New South Wales will make her Grand Slam debut after after she won the Australian women's wildcard play-off in Florid on the weekend.

“I'm really excited to utilise this opportunity to be amongst the best in the world and thank Tennis Australia for the wildcard, which could be a big breakthrough for me,” Perez said.

“I believe the matches over in Europe really helped with my confidence and belief in my own game. I am most looking forward to the opportunity to compete in my first Grand Slam singles event, to play in front of the crowd and to learn from this experience for the future.”

They join fellow Australians Nick Kyrgios, Bernard Tomic, Thanasi Kokkinakis, John Millman, Jordan Thompson, Sam Stosur and Daria Gavrilova in the singles main draw.
