Lleyton Hewitt has named his first squad since taking over as Davis Cup captain.

Bernard Tomic, Nick Kyrgios, Sam Groth and John Peers will take on the USA at Kooyong from March 4-6, in the opening round of the the 2016 Davis Cup.

Tomic and Kygrios will play singles and Peers and Groth will play the doubles rubber.

Peers, the No.9 ranked doubles player in the world, will play his first Davis Cup tie for Australia.

"He's earned this right; he's a top 10 doubles player," Hewitt said of Peers.

"I spoke to him at the Masters Cup in London at the end of last year and we talked about what he wanted to do with Davis Cup and the Olympics and he put his hand up for an opportunity."
