Before the tournament began, the former world No.1 declared her best tennis was still ahead of her and she stayed on message with a 6-3 6-1 win over Angelique Kerber in the Brisbane International final on Saturday night.

It was Azarenka’s first title in nearly two and a half years - since she lifted the trophy in Cincinnati in August 2013 - and the 18th of her career.

It was also her sixth win in as many meetings with Kerber.

After two injury hampered seasons, the 26-year-old from Belarus arrived in Brisbane ranked No.22 in the world.
