Australian 25th seed, Daria Gavrilova, has won through to the second round of the US Open after a straight sets win over American qualifier, Allie Kiick.

Fresh from her maiden WTA tour victory, Gavrilova steamrolled her young opponent in exactly one hour to advance to the second round where she will face another America, in Shelby Rogers.

"I felt really focused on what I had to do today, and I think I played pretty well, pretty aggressive, and I was able to get the win," Gavrilova said post-match.

If Gavrilova advances over Rogers, it will be the first time she has reached the third round at the US Open.
