Australian Daria Gavrilova has reached the quarter-finals of the Italian Open with an upset win over Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Gavrilova defeated her Spanish opponent 2-6, 7-5, 6-4, to set up a meeting with 15th seed Kiki Bertens.

Bertens dispatched of Russian Ekaterina Makarova 7-6, 6-1 to advance to the quarters to face Gavrilova.

Gavrilova, 23, is currently ranked No.33 in the world.
