The original Swiss Miss continued her tennis renaissance on Friday night as one half of the Australian Open women’s doubles champions.

Martina Hingis extended her extraordinary winning run with India’s Sania Mirza to 36 matches with a rollercoaster 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 victory over Czechs Lucie Hradecka and Andrea Hlavackova.

It is the longest streak in the women’s game since another Czech pairing, Jana Novotna and Helena Sukova, strung together 44 victories in 1990 – but a long way short of the record of 109 matches.
