No.7 seed Angelique Kerber is through to her first Grand Slam final after a 7-5, 6-2 win over Brit Johanna Konta.

The win ends unseeded Konta's brave run to the final.

Kerber is the first German women to reach the Australian open final since Anke Huber in 1996.

The 28-year-old will now face six-time Australian Open champion Serena Williams for a shot at her maiden Grand Slam title.
