Rafael Nadal has beaten Stan Wawrinka to claim a record 10th French Open crown.

The former world No.1 defeated Wawrinka 6-2, 6-3, 6-1, to claim his 15th Grand Slam title.

In doing so, he surpassed Pete Sampras' 14 Grand Slams and moved to within three of Roger Federer's 18 Slam titles.

“It’s really incredible. To win La Decima is very, very special,” Nadal said post-match.

“I am very emotional. The feeling I have is impossible to describe.

“It’s difficult to compare with other tournaments but the nerves and adrenaline I feel, it’s like no other place.”

Nadal has now overtaken Novak Djokovic and moved to No.2 in the world.
