Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from Wimbledon due to a wrist injury.

Nadal was forced to pull out of Roland Garros after the second round last month and he has not recovered sufficiently to play in London.

“I won’t be able to play at Wimbledon this year,” Nadal said.

“As you can all imagine, it’s a very tough decision, but the injury I suffered at Roland Garros needs time to heal.”

His wrist will be in a cast for the next two weeks, before he begins anti-inflammatory treatment and physiotherapy.
