Roger Federer has advanced to the third round of the Australian Open with a comfortable straight sets win over Alexandr Dolgopolov.

The Fed Express cruised past the Ukranian 6-3, 7-5, 6-1 in just 95 minutes.

Known more for his all court game, it was Federer's serving that stole the show, as the former world No.1 blasted 25 aces past Dolgopolov, winning 88 per cent of his points on first serve.

The Swiss maestro will now face either Marco Trungelliti or Grigor Dimitrov in the third round.
