Sam Stosur has been knocked out of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells by former world No.1 Victoria Azarenka.

Azarenka won the match 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, in one hour and 58 minutes, as she begins to looks more and more like her former self after returning from injury at the beginning of the year.

The two-time Australian Open champion won 80% of points on first serve, compared to just 64% for Stosur and also proved difficult to break, with the Aussie having just one break point opportunity, which she converted late in the second set.

Azarenka on the other hand had 18 break points, converting five of them.

The Bulgarian No.13th seed will now face Magdelena Rybarikova in the quarterfinals.
