Venus Williams and Nick Kyrgios have both been handed fines after their first round matches at the Australian Open.

Kyrgios has been fined $US3000 for an audible obscenity during his win over Pablo Correno Busta on Monday.

Women's No.8 seed Venus Williams has been hit with a $US5000 fine for failing to to front a mandatory media conference after her shock first round loss to Great Britain's Johanna Konta on Tuesday.
