Five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova is through to the fourth round of the Australian Open after a 6-1, 6-7, 6-0 victory over American Lauren Davis.

Sharapova steam rolled her young opponent in the first set in just 26 minutes and looked set for an easy victory. However, Sharapova let her opponent back in the match, and the world No.103 took full advantage, claiming the second in a tiebreak to level the match.

The loss of the second set seemed to shock her into gear, as she claimed the third set 6-0 in just half an hour.

The win is Sharapova's 600th career tour win, becoming just the 17th female player to achieve the milestone.

The No.5 seed will now face Swiss teenager Belinda Bencic in the round of 16.
