German youngster Alexander Zverev's outstanding form has continued, defeating Roger Federer 6-3, 6-4 to claim the Rogers Cup.

The win is Zverev's fifth title of the year, the number as Federer has won in 2017.

The 20-year-old's exquisite shot making and court coverage proved too much for the Swiss maestro, who could not back up his 6-1, 6-3 win over Zverev earlier this year in Halle.

Amazingly the match was just Federer's third loss of the season.

Zverev, who ended Federer's 16 match winning streak, now has a 10 match winning streak of his own, after winning the title in Washington last week.

Zverev was the the youngest Rogers Cup finalist since Novak Djokovic in 2007.

Meanwhile, in the women's final, Elina Svitolina continued her good form, breezing past Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 6-0.
